From Injury to Boston PR: How Expert Gait Analysis and PT Helped Me Run Pain-Free

As an avid runner and triathlete, I’ve faced my share of overuse injuries over the years. After achieving a personal milestone—qualifying for the Boston Marathon at the Philadelphia Marathon—I found myself battling a familiar foe: runner’s knee. But things took an unexpected turn when I tripped on a branch during a short run. I instinctively extended my arm to break the fall, only to end up with a fracture to my shoulder’s greater tuberosity.

Suddenly, I was dealing with two very different injuries—one orthopedic and one from overuse. I knew I needed a physical therapist with deep experience treating runners, so I asked my local running store for a recommendation. Without hesitation, they pointed me to Andrew.

Andrew, a dedicated runner himself, understood exactly where I was coming from. Despite being sidelined from running, biking, and swimming for six weeks due to my shoulder, I wanted to use the time to start rehabbing my knee. I called and explained my situation—they were immediately accommodating. From our very first session, I knew I was in good hands. Andrew is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and upbeat. More importantly, he truly understands athletes and their mindset.

Thanks to his expertise, I was able to fully recover from both injuries and return to my training pain-free.

Fast forward several months: just three weeks out from the Boston Marathon, I strained my hamstring. I had dealt with a severe hamstring injury in the past, which had kept me out for months, so I knew I needed help—and fast. Andrew fit me into his packed schedule, treated the injury with precision, and helped me get to the start line.

Not only did I finish the race without pain, but I also ran a personal best.

I can’t recommend Andrew and highly enough. His knowledge, skill, and genuine passion for helping athletes make all the difference. Whether you’re battling a setback or aiming for your next PR, Andrew will help you get there.
